Hi! I'm Rachel, the Left Brain of Drio.

My not-so-secret past life

Published 9 months ago • 1 min read

Hey Reader,

Did you know I used to spend my work days on construction sites?

Yep, pre-Drio times, I was an engineer. I started with technical design work for property developments and storm-water facilities. Eventually, I craved a faster pace, so I turned to construction where I got to be on the scene, watching projects come to life.

To this day, most people are surprised about my career change. “How did that happen?” they ask.

But the transition feels natural to me:

  • As a design engineer, I was constantly solving technical problems. Now I get to solve tech and website problems.
  • I loved the fast pace of construction and seeing the final product develop. Today, I get a similar rush with each new design I create or project we launch.
  • While shorter, the project management cycle of a website project is so similar to an engineering project.
  • It’s helped Drio carve a niche in the home services/building industries because we truly get them.
  • Both careers have made my Left Brain tendencies extremely happy.

This backstory is part of Drio’s brand DNA. It helps make Drio Drio.

Defining your own brand DNA and sharing tidbits like your backstory is a powerful way to build a stronger connection with your audience.

So, I’d love to know: What’s your backstory?

Even if it feels obvious or run of the mill to you, to your audience, it could be the special combo that makes you the perfect choice.

If you need support, we can join you on your brand-building construction site (no hard hats required).

You got this,

Left Brain

PS: Are you a B2B or home services business in the building industry? Our 4-Week Website service is just for you. It gives you a website that showcases your brand’s values and does your business justice—without the price tag of a full custom project.

Hi Reader, Everyone bought a ticket that was supposed to include a meal. It was prime dinner time. Stomachs were starting to rumble. And then… we found out that the food wasn’t coming. 🤦♀️ That’s what happened just before our International Women’s Day Soirée started. In the eleventh hour, we discovered there was a date mix-up with catering. Our own stomachs dropped—and then we kicked into high gear. Rachel and I scrambled to assemble refreshments. With some help from our board members, we...
